The Van De Putte's

"CPYU has helped us learn how to teach our boys to be in this world but not of it. We believe strongly in the mission of CPYU."

Twenty-eight years ago this summer, Lisa and I embarked on a new youth ministry adventure. We left seminary in Massachusetts and moved to Philadelphia where I began working as a youth pastor in a suburban church. We inherited an amazing group of students and their families who had a passion to follow and serve Jesus Christ.

One student who eagerly took advantage of every opportunity to learn more about the Christian faith was Tracey, a high school senior who had a contagious passion for Christ and learning how to live life to His glory in the midst of a difficult youth culture.

Today, Tracey Van De Putte and her husband Paul are raising three boys of their own in Richmond, Virginia, and they are doing so with a deep commitment to honor and serve Christ by consciously working to guide Daniel (13), Josh (12), and Andrew (10) through the confusing maze of today's youth culture.

While Tracey and Paul have believed in and financially supported CPYU for many years, Tracey says that "it wasn't until recently, as our boys approached their tween years, that the mission of CPYU became real to us as parents. Parenting became more challenging, with more gray areas and uncertainty as our boys got older. It's been reassuring that CPYU is there to help and guide us."

Paul and Tracey say, "Because the issues facing our children have changed since we were kids, we don't have the benefit of looking back on how we and our parents handled things or to remember lessons learned. This is where CPYU comes in. The time CPYU spends understanding the world in which our children live and the practical ways in which they share that information with us is invaluable."

CPYU has been a lifeline to young parents as we have helped them understand the culture, then to lead their children through it.

It was a privilege and joy for us to minister to Tracey twenty-eight years ago. Now, it's a blessing for us to be able to minister to Tracey and her husband Paul as they raise their three boys! The Van De Puttes have attended CPYU seminars in their home town of Richmond. They regularly read the CPYU Parent Page. They discuss CPYU's 3(D) media reviews with their boys as they seek to teach skills for making good music and media decisions from a Christian perspective.

In many ways, CPYU has been a lifeline to young parents as we have helped them understand the culture, then to lead their children through it.

Friends like Paul and Tracey encourage us deeply when they say, "CPYU has helped us learn how to teach our boys to be in this world but not of it. We believe strongly in the mission of CPYU."

In order to equip the Van De Puttes and tens of thousands of others like them, we depend on the continued financial support of people like you. As we approach the end of our fiscal year and begin the summer months, would you consider making a tax-deductible gift by June 30 to help us provide our Christ-centered ministry to parents, youth workers, pastors, educators, grandparents, and others who care deeply for children and teens? We would be deeply grateful.

Warmly in Christ,

Walt

Please help CPYU continue to be a lifeline for young parents like Paul and Tracey. Our goal is to raise $50,000 by June 30 so that we can advance in our ministry to help and equip parents, youth workers, and educators to understand and minister to young people in the culture.
