Intentional Parenting - The Basics

A big part of the parenting task is simply doing it with intention – with a sense of purpose, proactive parenting as opposed toreactive parenting. When parents operate on the basis of core values and set intentions, the parenting task becomes more about guidance and less about hand to hand combat.

In this session, we’ll look at some of those core values and set intentions that form and inform our task as parents of teenagers:

  • The Incarnation Principle, and how it reminds us that good parenting is like teaching your child to drive a car
  • The Baby Step Principle, and why wise parents learn to celebrate small victories
  • The Emperor Penguin Principle and what it says about the importance of patience
  • The Morning Sickness Principle, and why we go through labor twice with each child
