Do You Control Your Phone? . . . Or Does It Control You? . . . A Helpful Infographic

A few minutes ago we finished recording an interview with Tony Reinke for our “Youth Culture Matters” Podcast. We talked about Tony’s book, 12 Ways Your Phone is Changing You. The book is a beautiful piece of accessible, hope-filled, practical theology that offers a timely critique of how our phones are shaping us, and how we can glorify God through our mindful and wise control of our phones. It’s good stuff.

To give you a little preview of the kind of things we’ll be discussing, I’m passing on to you this wonderful infographic from Tony. When it comes to technology, we can either be mindless or mindful. As followers of Jesus who are called to “think Christianly” and to integrate our faith into every nook and cranny of life, we should be choosing the latter.

  1. Great feature on recognizing that the smartphone is here to stay, and the best response is to get educated and impart wisdom so our children can learn how to stay in control of the device, not the other way around.

There is another great resource on how to teach kids not to give up power to the bully, the drug or the device…. it is the gospel truth that makes a free society possible, and empowers parents and youth to unify and regulate use of devices/apps, and also control their own reactions to the cyber-powered hype (anxiety, bullying, etc.). http://www.coreconnectivity.org
