A youth worker friend asked me a provocative question regarding how those of us in our youth ministry world spend our time. He was wondering if we are spending too much time on things that don’t matter, as opposed to the much-needed time on the things that do matter. Good question.
So here’s something to think about regarding what our schedules tell us about our priorities: Our ministries are doomed if we spend more time on crafting and maintaining our “brand”, than on faithfully seeking and following Jesus. The kingdom of me is always in opposition to the Kingdom of God.
What does your schedule say about you and your priorities?
I just read your 2025 CPYU newsletter and found the ChatGPT reply to your question, “If you were the devil, how would you destroy the young minds of the next generation?” I may put this question in the mix at our next Tuesday Socrates Café discussion held at our church. Socrates Café of Athens, Georgia is a thoughtful, open-ended conversation and a time to explore questions about life, faith, right and wrong, belief, knowledge, and more.
I think the opposite question could be asked of ChatGPT as well: “”If you were God, how would you transform and develop the young minds of the next generation?”
The answer from ChatGPT was right on target and it blesses me that you have been reaching the youth for all these years with God loving, God building materials, etc!
