Welcome to the online home of The Center for Parent/Youth Understanding. For over three decades CPYU has been working to increase the ability of home and church to nurture children and teens into a lifetime of biblically-faithful, whole-life Christian discipleship. This website is an ever-growing gateway to relevant and timely information, analysis, and theologically-sound resources on today’s rapidly-changing youth culture.
Our kids are growing up in a world that is increasingly difficult to navigate as they endeavor to find answers to the most basic life-shaping questions: “Who am I?” and “What do I believe?” To effectively guide them into a deep-and-lasting faith in Jesus Christ, we endeavor to equip parents, youth workers, grandparents, pastors, and all others who love and lead kids into becoming “men and women of Issachar,” who understand the times and know what God’s people should do (I Chronicles 12:32). Your influence is powerful, and we are here to help you fulfill your role as passers of the faith from generation to generation. We want to help you better understand the powerful and pervasive cultural narrative and how it mis-shapes and de-forms kids, so that you might be better equipped to point kids to the life-giving power of the Gospel.
Please take some time to look around on our site. Subscribe to our podcasts. Sign up for our updates. Use the search function to find resources on youth culture issues and trends that might be leaving you confused and scratching your head.
We look forward to walking alongside you as together we live out the resolve of the Psalmist:
“O God, from my youth you have taught me,
and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds.
So even to old age and gray hairs,
O God, do not forsake me,
until I proclaim your might to another generation,
your power to all those to come.” (Psalm 71:17-18).
