All this week we’ve been looking at how to talk to our kids about the issue of pornography. My friend Nicholas Black, who helps people deal with sexual brokenness through his ministry at Harvest USA, offers these practical steps to take to help your kids flee from pornography. First, help them to honestly face the damage that pornography has done, while guiding them to hope in something better. When you truly see what porn has done to you, you can be compelled to change your habits. Help them to see that God has something better for them. Second, guide them into confessing their sin to God. Third, help them to embrace the forgiveness that can be theirs through the cross of Jesus Christ. Fourth, help them to discover the sin beneath their porn use, and address the triggers in their life. Fifth, establish a system of accountability. And sixth, set up borders and boundaries to keep them from accessing porn. God has a big plan for your kids and their sexuality. It doesn’t include pornography!
