Easter Literacy

It’s been over a decade since The Barna Research Group released a list of notable trends in the church, including one alarming trend that we must think about this week. Overall, the Barna Group reported that the Christian Church was becoming less theologically literate. The basic, universally-known truths about the Christian faith are now unknown and mysterious to a large and growing share of Americans, especially young adults. Sadly, that trend continues today. For example, only a minority of adults associate Easter with the resurrection of Jesus Christ. In addition, fewer and fewer adults believe that their faith in Christ should be the focal point of their lives, with that faith integrated into every area of life. God has called us to teach our children the basics of the faith. Failure to do so only advances a post-Christian culture. This week, take the time to teach your kids about the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
