I’ve often said that today’s youth culture is catechizing our kids twenty-four seven. They see and hear the world’s narrative on life all around them and wherever they turn. This means that it’s all the more important for us as parents and youth workers to make a concentrated, diligent, and never-ending effort to lead our kids into the bible so that they might learn God’s narrative about who He is, who they are, what they should believe, and what it means to follow Jesus in today’s world. The great theologian J.I. Packer once said, “If I were the devil, one of my first aims would be to stop folk from digging into the Bible. How? Well, I would try to distract all clergy from preaching and teaching the bible, and spread the feeling that to study this ancient book is a burdensome task which modern Christians can forego without loss.” Did you catch what Packer is saying? One of the greatest strategies of our enemy is to keep us out of God’s Word. Are you immersing yourself and your kids in the Bible?
