Our current Coronavirus pandemic is doing a favor when it brings us to the end of reliance on ourselves, and into a reliance on God through His son Jesus Christ. For me, my time pondering my own life has been what I hope is a fruitful time of self-examination. I’ve learned that how I spend my time, what I think and daydream about, and what I’ve come to believe that I just can’t do without offers insight into what has become my pearl of great price. What we learn in Matthew 13 is that our pearl of great price should be fellowship with Jesus and life in the Kingdom of God. And if that’s not my pearl of great price, then I’m in fellowship with the things of the world, the flesh, and the devil. Parents, let’s pray that our sin and the sin of our children would be exposed. A prayer we can use in these confusing times is the prayer from Psalm 86:11: Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I
may fear your name. . . and please do the same for my children.
