Imagine that you’re a high school sophomore sitting in your 2nd period history class. For some reason, you are extremely tired. You put your head down on your desk and fall asleep. When you wake up, you’re still at the same desk in the very same room, but every other desk is filled with high school seniors sitting in their 3rd period Government class. Panic sets in. Nap-faced and somewhat disoriented, you hop up and run out of the class, while all the seniors and the teacher who allowed you to keep sleeping laugh hysterically. Well, that’s what happened to me. I was reminded of that when I first read about a new prank going viral through high schools around the country. Students are setting up what are called sleep accounts on instagram, where peers post photos of classmates sleeping in class. Welcome to our new smartphone populated world. At this point, these sleep accounts are done purely in fun. However, it’s worth watching the trend just in case students start to cross lines.
