Like you, I’ve been watching the news and tracking with the fatality statistics related to the Coronavirus and our current pandemic. At the end of March, I had a longtime friend die after he contracted Covid-19. Perhaps more than ever before in our lifetimes, we are thinking more and more about death and our own mortality. And if that’s the case for us, it’s certainly the case for our kids. The apostle Paul lived out his own Christian faith in light of eternity and his own mortality. In Philippians 1:21, Paul opens our eyes to the reality that there is more to life than just our days that we draw breath on this earth. In fact, for the Christian, we are to live in the light and hope of eternity. Paul writes, “For me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better.” Parents, our current pandemic has opened the door to a great teachable moment. Share these words from Tim Keller with your kids: “If God is with you, even the worst thing that happens to you – death – only makes you infinitely happier and greater!”
