Movie Lines and Scripture

Since we’ve just come through the holiday season, all of those holiday movies that are run and re-run countless times each year are fresh in our minds. No doubt, you’ve had to sometime answer the question, “What’s your favorite holiday movie?” We have favorites in our family. We’ve watched some of them so many times that we can repeat our favorite lines from memory. This year, I got to thinking about how good we can be at reciting memorable movie or tv lines. And then I began wondering about how well – or not so well – we are at knowing, embracing, and repeating truths from the Bible. Parents, we are to be about the business of nurturing our children in the faith. Joshua’s instruction to the Israelites must be repeated to our children: The Scriptures shall not depart from your mouths, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
