Recently, several hundred parents who have at least two children between the ages of five to eighteen answered a questionnaire that helped researchers discover if there were any links between the amount of time parents spend looking at screens, and their parenting styles and practices. Researchers found that using screen time as a form of parental relaxation is tied to poor parenting. Poor parenting behaviors included only sometimes enforcing rules depending on one’s mood, yelling at your children, nagging your children about little things, and saying means things to a child to make them feel bad. In addition, parents who experience higher amounts of psychological stress tended to retreat into their screens as a way to unwind. Parents, we know that being a parent is not easy. We encounter difficult times that are sometimes overwhelming and that bring us to end of ourselves. We encourage you to lean out of your screens, and into God and His Word. Allow God to use His Word to transform you.
