Way back in 1983, the Russian political prisoner Alexander Solzhenitsyn gave a compelling Templeton Prize address. In his speech, Solzhenitsyn spoke about the horrors of Soviet communism and how they came to be. He said this: “Men have forgotten God. That’s why all this has happened.” Now, almost forty years later, a look at the issues we face in our declining western culture leads to the same conclusion. Men, women, and children have forgotten God, and that’s why all of this is happening. Parents, there exists today a dire urgency for you to take your responsibility as a Christian parent seriously. You have been charged with the task of nurturing your children in the faith. To do that effectively takes great effort and great amounts of time. This cannot be understated. I urge you to take the time to nurture your own soul, to read and study the Scriptures, to sit under solid and faithful biblical preaching, and to in turn, pass on the valuable gems of the Christian faith to your kids.
