It’s my hope that at some time during every day, I will hear, read, or encounter words that cause me to pause. The other morning, I was reading my Scripture Union Encounter With God and the writer passed on a few lines from a song I had never heard before. The lines are attributed to Jon Mohr and are from his song “Find Us Faithful,” penned in 1987. In these days filled with a multitude of voices that cry out for the allegiance and attention of our vulnerable children and teens, these lines from “Find Us Faithful” hit me hard. I believe they are worth praying. I also believe that praying these words with sincerity will result in a cost. . .
May all who come behind us find us faithful,
May the fire of our devotion light their way,
May the footprints that we leave
Lead them to believe
And the lives we live inspire them to obey.
