What Do Kids Brag About On Social Media?

I ran across this data on teens and social media bragging/boasting from Pew today. I’m reminded that our sinful/broken default setting leads us to try to assuage and eliminate our insecurities (we all have them) any way we can. Social media, if we’re not careful, can become an enticing playground on which to boast. . . arrogantly, humbly, passively, and aggressively.

As we seek to nurture our kids. . . and ourselves. . . into faithful following of the One who humbled Himself even unto death, we need to be aware of the temptation to indulge pride in front of our real and imagined online audience. Proverbs 11:12 tells us that “when pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humlity comes wisdom.”
