As you ponder the events of the Passion of Christ this weekend. . . consider these words from Mark 15:23. . . “And they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it.” As Jesus was in a moment going to die an incredibly painful death and take on the full weight of God’s punishment for the sins of the world, Jesus refused what was an anesthesia. He refused to be numbed to his suffering on our behalf.“Amazing Love, how can it be, that Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?”
